About Us

The Duncan Family

Jeff and Sylvia are passionate about providing a local church focused on the simplicity of the scriptures for everyday living and the power of an intimate relationship with a loving God.

Sensing God’s call to Pastor and plant a church in Central Mexico, the Duncan’s moved to Leon Guanajuato in June of 2010 to plant Arbol De Vida (Tree of Life). Their first service was held on Sunday November 7th, 2010.

Pastor Jeff grew up in the church. He is the eldest son of Pastors Don and Karen Duncan who founded Tree of Life Church in 1981 in New Braunfels, Texas. Jeff served as an Associate Pastor to Tree of Life Church for 11 years before moving to Mexico to plant Arbol De Vida. As the son of a church planter, Jeff is excited about being a second generation church planter.

Jeff is a graduate of Rhema Bible Training Center’s Pastoral Ministries Program. He holds a bachelors degree from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. He has also attended The University of Mexico’s (UNAM) language center in San Antonio, Texas where he studied Spanish.

Jeff is known for his relevant and practical teaching style and his passion for helping others discover their God given gifts and talents so that they can fulfill their purpose in life.

Sylvia is a Texas native, born and raised in New Braunfels. She is number thirteen of fourteen children. Sylvia is a wife, pastor, and mother of 6 amazing children. Her ministry has been focused on family and marriage. Her passion is to see women of all ages find their place in the kingdom and begin to live the life God created them to live.

Rounding out the Mexico team are the 2 youngest Duncan’s, Erin and Mackenzie. Erin is in her last year of High School and will be attending college in the States in September of 2011. Her desire is to attend nursing school and pursue a career in the medical field.

Mackenzie is the baby of the family. She is 9 years old, plays guitar, softball, and gymnastics. They both are actively involved in ministry in Leon; assisting in the church and also with short term trips from groups in the states.

They also are attending a Spanish speaking school and facing new challenges in life as they adjust to a new language and a new culture. The rest of the Duncan kids are in Texas and Oklahoma either married, working, or both.
